Verse 1) 
Life it seems it's just full of pain 
삶 언제나 고통으로 가득찬 듯 해 

And since the beginnin' of time it's been one cruel game 
내가 태어났을 때 이후로 이 삶은 하나의 잔혹한 게임 

And we see this everyday 
언제나 느끼곤 하지 

And yet there seems to be no change 
그러고도 바뀐 건 하나 없지 

I think it's time we rearrange the way we think and who we blame 
아무래도 우리가 생각하는 방식과 누굴 비난해야 하는 지를 다시 생각해야 할 것 같아 

A couple years ago I knew this girl I think I'll call her Kim 
한 2년 전 한 여자애를 알았는 데, Kim이라고 부를게 

She had the prettiest smile but her light was growin dim 
그녀는 가장 예쁜 미소를 가졌지만 그녀의 불빛은 희미해져 갔어 

She had to squeeze onto the mattress onto the bottom of the floor 
언제나 그녀는 바닥에 깔린 매트리스를 손으로 꽉 쥐고는 했지 

I'm sure you guessed it by now lil' kimie was born poor 
너도 이젠 알겠지 그녀는 태어날 때부터 가난했단 걸 

At nite she'd prayed the Lord would bless her family with more 
밤이면 그녀는 신에게 기도해 그녀의 가족에게 조금 더 달라고 

And then she'd ask herself the question.."what we sufferin for" 
그리고는 자신에게 되묻곤 하지 "우리가 왜 이렇게 괴로워 하지?" 

There's gotta be more... to life than just tryna live it right 
뭔가 이유가 있을 텐데.. 그저 제대로 살려고 하는 것보다 말야 

But if I knew the answer that then I wouldn't have to write 
하지만 정답을 알았다면 난 애초 이런 글을 쓰지도 않았을 거야

병원 침대에서 말야 그는 지쳐있었지 

And it appears he's lost hope 
마치 희망을 잃어버린 것 같았지 

He's hangin on a cliff and he's waitin and prayin for somebody to cut the rope 
그는 절벽에 매달려있었어 기다리고 누군가 그의 밧줄을 끊어주기를 기도하면서 

When times are rough you pray to God to take the pain away 
힘들 때마다 넌 신에게 고통을 없애달라고 기도하지 

But with a brighter day rest assure there comes a rainy day 
하지만 더 밝은 날이 오기 위해서는 비오는 날도 있어야 하는 법 

Glancin' thru the window Brian asks himself the question 
창문 밖을 보면서 Brian은 자신에게 되묻지 

"Mommy it's not fair how come all of them get to play 
"엄마 이건 불공평해 그들은 바깥에 나가서 놀고 있는 데 

And why create my life just to have it swept away" 
이렇게 내 삶은 고통에 싸여있는 걸까" 

It seems that life is playin games, it's unbearable the pain 
마치 삶이 게임을 하고 있는 것 같지 참을 수 없는 고통들 

Could it be that this tragic experience is for a greater gain 
혹시 이 비극적인 경험은 더 많은 걸 얻기 위한 것이 아닐까 

I guess we'll never know the question still remains 
역시 절대로 알지 못할듯 해 이 질문은 계속 남아있네
