South Korea's presidential office reaffirmed Sunday the government's plan not to halt imports of U.S. beef following a recent discovery of mad cow disease on a farm in California, saying it will instead strengthen quarantine inspections.

"Judging from the information we have collected so far, 온 라 인 릴 게 임(term445.hk.ms)(we) believe stricter quarantine inspections are sufficient," senior presidential press secretary Choe Geum-nak told reporters, referring to the farm ministry's decision to boost inspections from 3 percent to half of all U.S. beef shipments.
