A video clip posted on the Internet showed a score of Chinese people standing around watching an elderly woman bleeding. The image sparked a debate about the lack of morality in modern China.
According to the Shandong Sangbao newspaper Monday, the woman in her 60s lost consciousness and collapsed in a busy downtown area in Nanjing around 8 p.m. last Friday.
The woman had head injuries and lost a lot of blood. Her hair and jacket as well as the ground on which she lay ran red with blood.
Shortly after she fainted, around 20 people gathered around her. However, they just looked at the miserable predicament the woman faced. No one helped her, the newspaper said.
