¡¡When World Travel sells a package that includes hotel accommodations, they not only make the reservations and send the confirmation forms to the retail agent, but they also verify that the hotel expects the guests.
¡¡On the day the Silvers were scheduled to arrive, Mrs. mason called the Hotel Central to verify that they were expected. After the front desk confirmed the reservations, the travel agent asked the concierge to call her when the family arrived.
¡¡Mrs. Mason and the hotel concierge talk to each other and work together fre-quently(often). When World Travel has tour reservations for guests at the Hotel Central, the concierge telephones the guests to tell them about the plans. He wants to make sure the guests will be ready at the right time and place.
¡¡Mrs. Mason tells the concierge at what time tour bus will pick up the guests. She also tells him which entrance to the hotel will be used. Mrs. Mason says that the Silvers have a reservation for a tour of the city the next day. They will be picked up at the hotel at 8 A.M.
¡¡World Travel has other reservations for the family as well. The next evening they are going to see the country's National Dance Company. The day after, the whole family will visit a park. Later in the week, the Silvers will go on a tour of the rural(farm) areas of the country. At the end of the week, they spend five days at a resort hotel.
¡¡Some free days (days when no tours are scheduled) have been left the family. On those days, they will visit the zoo, the Children's Garden, and any other places they would like to see in the city. They may want to spend more time in a museum than is allowed on a tour, The family will also want to visit some of the department stores or shops.
¡¡World Travel packaged the family's trip and responsible for making sure that they get all the services in the package. The concierge's job is to make sure that the Silvers know about all these activities. He also helps them get ready for the different tours. He gives them directions for getting to the places they want to visit on their free days. Sometimes the concierge makes suggestions about things he thinks they might enjoy seeing or doing.
¡¡The concierge and the travel agent cooperate (work together) to make the time that guests spend in their country as pleasant as possible. A successful trip means that the tourist has had a good time. It also means that the tourist may take other trips or tours through World Travel. The guest may also come back to stay at the hotel.
¡¡Repeat business (business from people who were customers before) is good for all businesses. A satisfied tourist or guest will recommend both the hotel and World Travel to friends. "To be satisfied" means to be happy or pleased with something. A satisfied guest is happy with the services provided by a hotel. "To recommend" is to tell people good things about a person, place, or thing. The recommendations of satisfied guests and customers are important for hotels and companies like World Travel.
