Lesson 19, People's Complaint and God's Anger
Memory Verse: Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!(James 5:9)
Text: Numbers 11
The Israelites marched from Mt. Sinai according to God's direction.
But it was not long before the people began complaining against Moses and God. We need to learn that a complaint follows a judgment.
1. At the place called Taberah
_What is God's thoughts about people's complaints?
_What happened when the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of God?
-When the people cried out to ( ), he ( ) to the LORD and the fire died down.
-What did the people call the place where the fire broke out in God's anger?
2. At the place called Kibroth Hattaavah
The people learned a lesson at Taberah that a complaint does not help for their well-being. But they easily forgot the event and began to complain again. This time they became worse grumblers.
-Who started complaining this time?
What did they complain about?
The seriousness of their complaints is in that they missed ( ) and they hated ( ).
-God's Anger (vv.31-33) : Now a wind went out from the LORD and drove ( ) in from the sea. But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the LORD burned against the people, and he struck them with ( ).
Therefore the place was named ( ), because there they ( ) the people who had craved other food.
3. Share your thoughts about the people's repeated complaints even after the incident in Taberah.
From when to when did the people eat manna and where did it come down? Who does manna indicate? (cf. Ex16:1-4, 35)
